Design and make your own spoon from scratch using workshop machinery and hand tools.

I'd like to welcome you all into my new, light filled studio to learn how to make yourself a spoon of your own design. In this one day class of 4, you will be taught how to make a spoon of your own design using my workshop machinery.

You will start with a piece of timber which you will draw your design onto - feel free to bring spoons to trace around if thats what you're after, and I will teach you how to use the bandsaw to cut your spoon out. From there I will teach you my technique for carving a spoon. I will talk you through the properties of wood to help you carve more effectively, and together using a hook knife, a blade and a disk sander, we will carve a spoon, your spoon will then be finished with sandpaper, and oiled with a New Zealand made beeswax, and ready to take home with you to use.

This class teaches spoon carving using reclaimed hardwood, not Greenwood, which is common for spoon carving.

You will be using workshop machinery for this class so there will be a safety briefing. All skill levels are welcome, anyone can make a spoon with my guidance.
